Every once in a while you hear something good in the news rather than the usual doom and gloom. Sometimes it even helps restore your faith in humanity and gives a little hope for the future. Roberta Langtry of Toronto was just such a story. She died recently after a living to the respectable age of 89 years. She lived a quiet unassuming life and was a teacher for most of her career. What made her remarkable has only come to light since her passing. …

I really wish someone would teach George Bush that the word is “NUCLEAR” not “NUKULER”. It’s really sad when the President of the U.S. can’t say it correctly in the State of the Union address.

An editorial on New Orleans

Not really my own deep thoughts, but this is a strong editorial on the situation in the U.S. View the broadcast or read the text from Keith Olbermann of MSNBC. I don’t watch MSNBC, so I know little of Olbermann, but the editorial is remarkably insightful, and remarkably damning of the government response to the plight in New Orleans. I sincerely hope that people learn from this tragedy and that New Orleans can rebuild, and that the thousands of homeless people find a way to rebuild …

Well, it looks like George W. has won the election. Barring a miracle, he seems to have won the popular vote, and the electoral college votes.
Everything else aside, this must bode well for Canada for two reasons. First, the U.S. dollar will continue it’s nose dive, strengthening the Canadian dollar (The first day after the election, the Canadian dollar hit a 12 year high of 82.9 cents!), increasing our trade power. Secondly, with the U.S.’s phenomenal deficit, and incredibly lacklustre domestic policy, Canadians should be able to reverse …
