IMG_1936I recently bought and tried out a new tent, the MSR Hubba Hubba (see the 2018 update Hubba Hubba NX. It’s a fabulously breathable tent with massive micromesh walls. It’s also the fastest tent I’ve ever assembled (<1 minute for the main tent, and 5-6 minutes to stake in the fly). It very comfortably fits me and my girlfriend, with space to spare for that early morning hands-over-head yawn-stretch! Two vestibules make for extra storage and the two zip entry makes it easy for two people to share the tent. The only draw back was the fact that we were 1 peg short: During heavy rain, the fly at the head and foot of the tent can touch the tent proper, making it a bit damp. I had one extra peg to pull the guy-out tab at one end, but I ended up borrowing one more for the other side. Once those where in place, the water threat was eliminated, and it actually helped the ventilation too. There is a nice stash pouch at the head of the tent, but no overhead gear loft… I wasn’t even sure that there was a spot to hook one in… Further investigation is needed.

Anyways, it was a pretty good weekend, although the weather got the better of us. The weather people predicted sunny weather for 3 days, we got one day… Oh well, it was nice to get out camping anyways, and I did manage to swim on the one nice day. Yay.
